Context

Client:

A large national insurance claim provider

Problem:

In the world of insurance, claims and loss adjusting involve multiple steps. Our users (insurance adjusters and admins) had unique workflows that required navigating up to four different applications to complete their tasks

Goal:

Streamline and accelerate user workflows by designing a unified platform that consolidates these separate applications into a single, efficient system.

Design Process

Discovery:

  • Walk through workflows with PMs and users.
  • Internal review with design team to understand our individual findings.

Ideate:

  • Create wireframes
  • Walked through wireframes with cross-functional team. Input from all team members were helpful in keeping the MVP within scope.
  • Approved wireframes tested with users.
  • Refine according to testing.

Design:

  • Create hi-fis of approved wireframes.
  • Prototype and present flows to cross-functional team for approval.
  • Update any changes and repeat presentation process.

Delivery:

  • Organize and label screens with handoff naming convention.
  • Upload to Zeplin for developer handoff.

Impact

My Role:

For each new feature, I guided the design process by maintaining alignment between design, product, and development teams. Leveraging the design system I built and curated, I ensured that new components and interactions met both user needs and business objectives.I focused on handling details such as error states, component behaviors, and interaction design to create seamless user experiences. I collaborated closely with PMs and developers through regular design reviews to validate concepts, refine details, and ensure the final handoff reflected a shared vision across the team.

Project highlights:

This long-term project spanned over three years, during which I contributed to more than 10 product features and played a key role in a successful product launch. Beyond meeting the business roadmap and delivering essential design assets, our team helped the client’s product team recognize the value of UX. This collaboration created a company-wide impact by shaping their approach to design thinking and product development processes.

Results

The PMs can speak for me...

We designed and help successfully launch a “Photos” feature, which received overwhelmingly positive feedback from users. Business goals were achieved, and users were enthusiastic about adopting the intuitive interface and workflow.

The success of this launch also strengthened stakeholder confidence in the UX team, turning initial skeptics into advocates. As a result, the business was eager to continue our partnership and advance the product toward greater maturity.
